Public transport
How ever you travel make your way to the main station in Bern. Should you come by train and need a luggage trolley a SFr. 2.00 coin will get you one on the platform.
The quickest way to get to the Panyard by public transport is by the local S Bhan service. You have a choice of three S Bhan services, S5/S51/S52. To get timetable details go to and type in any one of these three S5/S51/S52 and you will get the time table of each service. All these trains stop @ Bumpliz Nord. Alternatively just go to platform 13 and check the timetable board very carefully and catch the next train to Bumpliz Nord.
When you arrive @ Bumpliz Nord and you have descended from the platform you will find yourself almost @ the end of a tunnel that serves the access to the various platforms. Leading from the tunnel is a foot path and dead ahead is a
petrol station, walk towards it. When you can't see the
petrol station you're going the wrong way. When you get to the main road turn left and walk towards the other
petrol station. Walk past the
petrol station. Next you will pass some off street parking and then the main offices of
. Take the pedestrian access that runs to the side of this building and you will see the front doors of
diagonally to the right across the areal.
Alternatively should you choose to continuing by bus leave the platform by descending the stairs or a ramp. Once you have reached the passage under the platforms follow the flow of people until you get to the main hall of the station.
This is a large hall rising through two levels to a glazed roof. If you are being met go to the meeting point sign
.
If you are continuing by bus you need to find the bus station (in English we call them bus stops) for bus number 14 .
Once you are in the main hall you will see the stairs and escalators that service the two upper levels, admire these and then walk past them through the under ground shopping area. Ignore all exits until you get to the very end, this is served by stairs and escalators and should be on your left hand side only. Now you have got to give your trolley back to
but you get your SFr. 2.00 back. Up the stairs or escalators and you will be facing the front of
, Bern's largest and most popular department store. Turn right and on the other side of the street you will see a
branch of
bank on the opposite corner. (so reassuring they seem to have them absolutely every where) The terminal stop for the 14 bus is in front of this bank. Make sure you have a ticket, press the ticket button for 2 zones and relieve yourself of some coins.
Enjoy your westerly bus ride until you get to the 2nd to last stop called Holenacher, time to get off. Once the bus has left cross the road and walk south on the pavement on right hand side of the road. If the sun is out it will be in your eyes, you will pass our local branch of
, a supper market called
, a shoe shop called Dosenbach and a car park. When you get to the end of the car park cross the road and you will be facing the industrial complex belonging to
. Turn right and walk past Carlo's offices and enter the area through the double gates immediately after this office building. Diagonally to your right you will see two blue doors.
On the left hand door is a large yellow and blue Carib beer bottle cap logo.
Congratulations! You have found your way to the front doors of The Panyard.
